Oldbury Camp
Oldbury Camp is a vast Iron Age hillfort crowning a greensand ridge above the Kentish Weald, its earthwork ramparts enclosing well over a hundred acres. Excavations have turned up traces of even earlier prehistoric occupation in rock shelters below the slope. Today the defences are softened by oak and birch woodland, and the climb up rewards you with the sense of standing inside something genuinely ancient and enormous.
