Owletts
Owletts is a modest but characterful Charles II farmhouse of warm red brick, built by a prosperous farming family in the seventeenth century. It later became the home of the architect Sir Herbert Baker, who left his own marks on the place between his great works in South Africa and India. Inside there's a fine moulded plaster ceiling and a comfortable lived-in feel, while outside a kitchen garden and orchard run behind the house.
- Carolean plaster ceiling
- Sir Herbert Baker's family home
- Walled kitchen garden and orchard
Best for fans of architecture and intimate, unstuffy country houses.
