Borrowdale
Borrowdale runs south from Derwentwater into a steep-sided world of crags, native woodland and tumbling becks. The valley shelters some of the country's last fragments of temperate rainforest, draped in mosses and ferns, alongside the famous Bowder Stone and the way up to Scafell Pike. Footpaths thread between hamlets, riverside meadows and high fells in every direction.
