Barrington Court
Barrington Court is a Tudor manor of golden ham stone near Ilminster in Somerset. By the early 20th century it had fallen into decay before the Lyle family leased and restored it. The gardens were planned in walled compartments influenced by Gertrude Jekyll, from a white garden to kitchen plots and an orchard. The empty, light-filled house and the structured gardens together make it a satisfying half-day out.
