Helsby Hill
Helsby Hill rises sharply from the Cheshire plain near the Mersey estuary, its bare sandstone face a landmark for miles. The summit carries the ramparts of an Iron Age hillfort and, on a clear day, a view that takes in the river, the Welsh hills and Liverpool beyond. It is a short but rewarding climb through woodland and rough grassland, popular with walkers and climbers alike.
