Bickerton Hill
Bickerton Hill is a heather-clad sandstone ridge on the Cheshire Sandstone Trail, part of the wider Bickerton range. Its slopes carry rare lowland heath and birch woodland, and the summit holds the earthworks of an Iron Age hillfort known as Maiden Castle. Climb to the top and the Cheshire Plain unrolls below, with the Welsh hills rising in the distance — a proper bit of open countryside walking.
- Lowland heath habitat
- Iron Age hillfort earthworks
- Wide-ranging summit views
Best for walkers after open heathland and a long view from the ridge.
