Finch Foundry
Finch Foundry in the village of Sticklepath was one of the last working water-powered forges in England, producing scythes, sickles and other hand tools through the 19th century. Three waterwheels drive the trip hammers, shears and grindstone, and demonstrations bring the clatter and sparks back to life. Set beside the River Taw at the foot of Dartmoor, it is industrial heritage at its most hands-on.
