Dragon Hill
Dragon Hill is a small natural chalk mound on the downs below the Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire. Folklore names it as the place St George killed the dragon, the bare patch on its crown supposedly where the creature's spilled blood scorched the ground. Climb the short slope and you stand amid one of the most legend-soaked corners of the Berkshire Downs, with the ancient hill figure and Iron Age ramparts close by.
