Cerne Abbas Giant
The Cerne Abbas Giant is an enormous figure cut into a chalk hillside above the Dorset village of Cerne Abbas. Standing some 55 metres tall and brandishing a club, he is the largest chalk hill figure in Britain and famously unclothed. Long thought ancient, recent soil dating points to a likely medieval or later origin. You view him best from the lay-by below; the hillside itself is kept off limits to protect the carving.
