The Pepperbox
The Pepperbox is a curious early 17th-century hexagonal tower standing alone on the chalk downs of Wiltshire, built as a folly or hunting viewpoint by Giles Eyre around 1606. Visible for miles across the open landscape south of Salisbury, it rewards the walk up with sweeping views and a lovely sense of solitude among rolling downland.
- Early 17th-century hexagonal folly
- Panoramic Wiltshire downland views
- Solitary hilltop character
Best for downland walkers and lovers of eccentric English follies.
