The Homewood
The Homewood is one of Britain's finest Modernist houses, designed in 1938 by the young architect Patrick Gwynne for his own family. Floating on a podium above sloping woodland gardens, it pairs open-plan living spaces, sliding screens and bespoke fittings with floor-to-ceiling glass that pulls the trees indoors. Gwynne went on living and tinkering here until his death, so the house feels like a complete, intensely personal vision.
- 1930s Modernist architecture
