Skenfrith Castle
Skenfrith Castle guards a river crossing on the Monnow, built by the Normans to hold the route between Wales and Hereford. At its centre stands a circular three-storey keep, ringed by a polygonal curtain wall with round corner towers and the grassed-over line of a former moat. One of the Three Castles alongside Grosmont and White Castle, it sits quietly beside the village church in a gentle green valley.
