Letocetum, near the village of Wall in Staffordshire, is the exposed remains of a Roman wayside settlement that once served travellers on Watling Street — one of the great roads of Roman Britain. The bathhouse foundations are remarkably well preserved, offering a vivid glimpse of the infrastructure the Romans built to hold their empire together.
