Great Coxwell Barn
Great Coxwell Barn is one of the most impressive medieval buildings in England — a vast 13th-century tithe barn standing in the Oxfordshire village of Great Coxwell, built for the Cistercian monks of Beaulieu Abbey. William Morris, who lived nearby, declared it to be 'as noble as a cathedral', and standing inside its soaring timber-framed interior it is easy to understand why. It is a monument to medieval craftsmanship on a truly grand scale.
