Dunster Castle
Dunster Castle perches dramatically on a wooded tor above the pretty Somerset village of the same name, its towers visible for miles across Exmoor. Parts of the site have been occupied since Norman times, and the castle evolved into a comfortable country house for the Luttrell family over many centuries, leaving a wonderful layering of history from medieval fortifications to Jacobean interiors. The surrounding estate includes a working watermill and sub-tropical garden.
