Dunseverick Castle
Dunseverick Castle stands as a single ruined gatelodge on a grassy basalt headland along the Causeway Coast. Once the northern end of an ancient royal road across Ireland and a seat of early kings, it was wrecked in the 1640s and 1650s and has been eroding into the sea ever since. The reward now is the setting: a short walk from the Giant's Causeway, with the Atlantic crashing against the rocks below.
