Avebury Manor and Garden
Avebury Manor stands within the world-famous Neolithic stone circle in Wiltshire. A monastery in origin, the house grew into a Tudor and Queen Anne manor and was later refurbished room by room in different historical styles for a BBC project. Unusually, visitors are encouraged to touch, sit and explore rather than stand behind ropes. The dovecote, walled gardens and topiary round out a visit best paired with the surrounding henge.
- Hands-on period rooms
- Tudor and Queen Anne house
- Walled gardens and dovecote
Best for families who want to touch history, not just look at it.
