Mr Straw's House
Mr Straw's House in Worksop is one of the National Trust's most extraordinary time capsules — a 1920s semi-detached house preserved exactly as the Straw family left it, complete with their belongings, wallpaper, and even grocery bills. William Straw's refusal to change anything after his parents' deaths created an accidental museum of Edwardian and interwar domestic life that is both moving and utterly fascinating. Visits are by guided tour only, and feel genuinely intimate.
- 1920s time-capsule family home
- Unchanged Edwardian domestic interiors
- Intimate guided tours, no staging or restoration
Best for social history lovers who find the everyday past endlessly compelling.
