Leigh Woods
Leigh Woods is an ancient woodland nature reserve on the south bank of the Avon Gorge, directly opposite Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge near Bristol. The steep, dramatic gorge slopes are carpeted in oak and ash woodland, and the reserve has a wonderful wildness so close to a major city. Spring sees the ground lit with bluebells, and the views across the gorge from various points are among the most striking in the whole of the West Country.
