Downhill Demesne
Downhill Demesne crowns a windswept clifftop on the Causeway Coast, built in the 1770s by Frederick Hervey, the Earl Bishop of Derry. Its grand mansion, Downhill House, now stands in romantic ruin, while the domed Mussenden Temple perches dramatically on the cliff edge above the Atlantic. The views along the coast are enormous, and the temple, once the bishop's clifftop library, is one of Ireland's most photographed buildings.
