Cherryburn
Cherryburn in Northumberland is the modest farmstead birthplace of Thomas Bewick, the great wood engraver whose meticulous images of British wildlife and rural life in the late 18th century are as charming today as they ever were. Set in the Tyne valley near Prudhoe, the cottage and farmyard have been restored to reflect Bewick's childhood world, and the small museum celebrates the artist's extraordinary eye for the natural world.
